It is essential to have a clear understanding of what data a business holds, where it is stored, and how it is being used, to enable the organization to make informed decisions based on accurate and up-to-date information.

Andrew Montgomery is a self confessed data geek and long-term data professional. His career has been dedicated to leading Data & Analytics implementation, strategy and thought leadership on what it means to truly be data-driven and how to help an organization to move the needle on their own data initiatives.

At Snowflake, Andrew is focused on working with partners to deliver solutions that solve business problems, using technology as well as the unique industry and subject matter expertise Snowflake’s partners are so well known for. He spends his days working with partners to build customized enablement frameworks and empowering internal champions, building joint GTM Solutions, as well as advocating their partner expertise to their customers and internal teams.

Session Abstract: Explore how true value lies in transforming and serving data at the speed of need. Let’s go beyond just de-siloing data and talk about how to unleash the Data Engineer and maximize their impact on your organisation by drilling into the greatest hurdles that plague modern Data Engineering practices. This session has roots in engineering but in the end it’s all about value!

Kate Carruthers | UNSW Sydney | Chief Data & Insights Officer, Head of Business Intelligence, UNSW AI Institute
Keynote Speaker

Kate Carruthers is currently working at the intersection of data analytics, AI, ML, privacy, data protection, cyber and information security. She is Chief Data & Insights Officer for UNSW Sydney, is the Head of Business Intelligence for the UNSW AI Institute and is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science & Engineering. Kate has extensive experience in senior roles in ICT across the finance sector, in the public sector, in retail and wholesale distribution, and in marketing, with expertise in data and digital. She has completed postgraduate studies in business; terrorism and security; and tertiary education. Kate has also co-founded several technology startups and currently advises several startups.

Session Title: AI Is Changing Everything…
Session Abstract: Kate Carruthers will be discussing how AI changes everything for data professionals.

With the advent of ChatGPT ordinary folks are starting to see how an AI application could be of use in their daily lives. This is driving a lot of interesting conversations across the world. Kate will give an overview of the AI landscape, talk about the organisational barriers to success with AI, and suggest some techniques to overcome these.

Then she will discuss the new architectures, new ways of working, and some emerging roles that will help us to set ourselves up for AI success. This will be an interactive session, so come ready to join in and share about your AI journey to date and your ideas about our AI driven future.
