Get to Know the Speakers

Jaimita Bansal Goldman Sachs

Jaimita Bansal | Goldman Sachs | Vice President/Lead Data Scientist

Jaimita is a Lead Data Scientist at Goldman Sachs in Data Lake Engineering building machine learning solutions to proactively predict data processing delays and improve overall operational efficiency of vast data pipelines in the firm. She loves data and applied machine learning space and is currently working to build bots that can take accurate actions on data delays. She is passionate and curious about life and tech; and exploring both through nature and data/ML. Jaimita earned an MTech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2016 specializing in NLP domain.

Session Title: Harnessing the power of ML for operational excellence of Data Lake
Session Abstract: Data Lake is the firm’s big data platform. It scales to run hundreds of thousands of ingestions and more than a million exports per day (and we are constantly growing!). Each of these ingestions and exports is time-sensitive, and the workloads they process vary tremendously in volume. For instance, the same producer can send anywhere from zero to millions of rows depending on the number of trades executed in that hour. The most difficult question to answer operationally has been: which particular ingestion or export has been delayed, and also has the potential to delay downstream consumer deadlines? We trained a machine learning model on these dynamic workloads to set up predicted thresholds for each flow and define consumer happiness metrics. Join us to hear the journey and how it has helped in the operational efficiency of Data Lake.

Doug Laney | West Monroe / Author of Infonomics | Data & Analytics Innovation Fellow

Doug Laney is a best-selling author and recognized authority on data and analytics strategy. He advises senior IT, business and data leaders on data monetization and valuation, data management and governance, external data strategies, analytics best practices, and establishing data and analytics organizations. Doug’s book, Infonomics: How to Monetize, Manage, and Measure Information for Competitive Advantage, was selected by CIO Magazine as the “Must-Read Book of the Year” and a “Top 5 Books for Business Leaders and Tech Innovators.”

Session Title: Infonomics: The New Economics of Information
Session Abstract: Increasingly, IT and business executives talk about data as one of their most important assets. But few behave as if it is. Executives report to the board on the health of their workforce, their financials, their customers, and their partnerships, but rarely the health of their data assets. And corporations typically exhibit greater discipline in managing and accounting for their office furniture than their data.

In this discussion, Mr. Laney will share insights from his best-selling book, Infonomics, about how organizations can actually measure and manage data as an actual enterprise asset, and how to capitalize upon data’s unique economic qualities. And he will share real-world stories from his recent book, Data Juice, about how organizations are squeezing value from data.

Saurabh Shanbhag | AWS | Partner Solutions Architect

Saurabh has over 15 years of experience in solution integration for highly complex enterprise wide systems. He has successfully onboarded greenfield solution providers integrate their offerings on AWS, and accelerated existing AWS Data & Analytics Partners to enhance their solutions on AWS. He has worked across multiple industries, including telecommunication, finance and insurance.

Session Title: Success with Modern Data Architecture
Session Abstract: Today, with the rapid growth in data from ever-expanding data producer platforms, organizations are looking for ways to modernize their data analytics platforms. Traditional data warehouse is challenging to scale for future growth. A modern data architecture gives you the best of both data lakes and purpose-built data stores. It lets you store any amount of data you need at a low cost, and in open, standards-based data formats. It isn’t restricted by data silos, and lets you empower people to run analytics or machine learning (ML) using their preferred tool or technique. Also, it lets you securely manage who has access to the data. Customers can achieve success by using AWS Analytics Services integration with StreamSets.
