StreamSets Acquisition by Software AG

Customer FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

StreamSets is getting acquired by Software AG. We will continue to operate our business as an autonomous business within Software AG.

More specifically, on February 28, 2022 Software AG signed an agreement to acquire StreamSets. The actual transfer of company ownership took place on April 18, 2022, after regulatory approval.

Founded over 50 years ago, Software AG helps businesses become truly connected enterprises. Software AG’s industry-leading suite of products across integration & API management, IoT & analytics and business transformation helps more than 10,000 businesses worldwide. They have close to 5,000 employees in 41 countries representing 77 nationalities, who are unified around their values of trust, inclusion and responsibility.

Their CEO Sanjay Brahmawar joined the company over 3 years ago and since then they have been driving HELIX, a five-year, company-wide transformation towards sustainable, profitable growth.

StreamSets will become an autonomous business within Software AG. Girish Pancha, the StreamSets CEO, will remain the leader of the StreamSets business and will report directly to the CEO of Software AG, Sanjay Brahmawar.

We believe this is good news for our customers. StreamSets is becoming an autonomous business within Software AG, and Software AG is committed to continued investment in the StreamSets DataOps Platform and business. At StreamSets, we remain focused on being the leader in data integration for the modern data stack, including continuing to build out our product roadmap to meet the evolving needs of our customers. The acquisition will only improve the level of service and support that customers receive from StreamSets, and customers can continue to do business with StreamSets as usual.

As part of Software AG, StreamSets will have the financial stability and resources of a large, global leader in integration. And for customers who are using both StreamSets and Software AG products, over time we plan to jointly develop a hybrid integration platform that addresses both application and data integration, providing our joint customers with a unique, unified solution to the integration challenges of the connected enterprise.

We will be known as StreamSets, a Software AG Company.

At StreamSets, our goal has always been to disrupt the data integration market as it shifts to big data, smart apps and the cloud. After extensive discussions with various potential investors, it became clear that the fastest way to achieve our goal was as a part of Software AG.

With Software AG, we will have the additional resources and global footprint to better serve our existing customers and reach new customers. We also believe there is a huge emerging opportunity in hybrid integration, blending application integration and data integration to fuel digital transformation and use cases such as real-time smart applications and reverse ETL.

The rationale for acquiring StreamSets is about growth and driving innovation. There are four key pillars behind Software AG’s rationale to acquire us.

  • StreamSets is a fantastic and fast-growing data integration business, with all the growth coming from the cloud segment.
  • Software AG enters a highly attractive market, opening up access to new parts of its €61 billion total addressable market.
  • StreamSets complements Software AG´s product portfolio. Where Software AG’s existing portfolio helps connect a hybrid application landscape and integrates the transaction data within it, StreamSets’ technology collects, consolidates and moves data from across this landscape as well as a broader range of datasets including edge and process data.
  • Together, strong value to an enlarged customer base will be created. StreamSets’ go-to-market approach is highly complementary to Software AG’s. Both groups target the same enterprise customer segment and buying personas that reside in the same IT buying center.
